Lisle, Ill. - Behind 20-plus scoring performances from Jake Negus and Ben Seefeld, the Edgewood College Men's Basketball team swept the season series against Benedictine University with a 75-63 win on the road. In a game that featured eight tie scores and 22 lead changes, the Edgewood College bench scored 20 points as compared to 10 from Benedictine.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College came into the second half with a narrow one point lead (35-34) over Benedictine, but with just under 13 minutes to go a jumper in the paint from Ben Seefeld provided a spark. Edgewood College went on a 9-0 run over six minutes to make the score 54-45.
- The first half proved to be a back and forth affair in which Edgewood College outshot Benedictine 51.85 percent overall. Additionally, Edgewood College shot exceptionally well from beyond the arc (6-for-10).
- Edgewood College was on fire from the charity stripe once again, making 13-of-16 in the second half, and 14-of-18 overall. McClain Steffens made both of his attempts from long range, while Emil Radisevic was 2-of-3 and Jake Negus was 3-of-6.
- Defensively, Edgewood College held played well, holding Benedictine to 10 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Edgewood College finished the game shooting 50 percent (26-of-52) from the floor.
- Negus and Seefeld led all players, each with seven boards, while Negus added 28 points and Seefeld dropped a career-high 20 points.
- Jacob Miller and Negus both finished the contest with three steals, which proved crucial in the matchup.
THE OPPOSITION
- Benedictine University finished the contest with three players in double figures. Eric Grygo picked up a team-best 15 points while adding nine rebounds, Bryan Jakobsze not far behind with 14 points of his own, and Kenny Bogus added 11 points.
