MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's tennis team started the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference season on the right foot with a strong 8-1 victory over MSOE at Lake Park. The Eagles only lost six games in singles from the No. 2 through No. 5 positions.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (1-2, 1-0 NACC) took a 3-0 lead by sweeping all the doubles matches. Jaclyn Swift and Haley Brooks claimed an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles, topping MSOE's Cali Bonie and Kim Baffin.
- Alyssa Carew and Sydney Verbauwhede claimed the win at No. 1 doubles with an 8-4 victory over Hannah Marron and Sammy Soeder.
- The Eagles flexed their muscles further in singles play. Freshman Kai Heineman dominated MSOE's Cierra Smith 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
- Swift at No. 5 singles and Lydia Dean at No. 6 singles only surrendered one game in their respective matches.
- Alicia Picard claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over Katie Clements, to give her two wins on the day after teaming with Heineman at No. 2 doubles.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With today's win the Edgewood College women's tennis team won their ninth straight NACC season opener. The Eagles last started the NACC schedule with a loss in the 2008-09 season.

- Edgewood College will open their home schedule next Saturday at Quann Park. The Eagles will host Alverno College at 9:30 a.m. and then face Wisconsin Lutheran College in a 2:00 p.m. afternoon match.
