MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team was limited to three shots in a 3-0 defeat against MSOE on Wednesday night. In the Eagles first conference matchup of the 2018 season, defense was the name of the game. Edgewood College was able to hold MSOE at just one goal through the first half, but could not contain the Raiders in the second half. Edgewood College is still looking for their first win of 2018.
The game got off to a slow start, as it took 14 minutes before either team registered a shot. MSOE (4-4, 1-0 NACC) struck first, sending a flurry of five shots at the Edgewood College goal (0-5-1, 0-1 NACC) within a 12 minute span. Mari Hubanks made the first offensive attempt for the Eagles. Hubanks was unable to score in the 18th minute, as her shot went wide. MSOE opened up scoring in the 33rd minute as Hailey Malloy netted her first goal of the season on a low driving shot from 20 yards out. The Raiders and Eagles battled it out for control, as only three shots were taken in the remaining minutes of the first half.
Chances were limited for Edgewood College after attempting only two shots and one corner kick in the second half. Senior Mady Warda gave the Eagles their best look with their second shot in the 72nd minute. Warda's shot sailed just high of the net, hitting the crossbar. Eight minutes later Carrie Radomsky took a shot off a corner kick from Anna Benitez. Radomsky's effort was blocked by an MSOE defender.
The Raiders solidified their victory scoring two more times in the contest. In the 82nd minute MSOE scored their second goal off a header from Hailey Malloy. Gracie Horton netted the third goal for MSOE off a corner kick from Jeray Riffel.
