Eagles unable to overcome slow start against Falcons

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team dropped its second-straight game Saturday, falling 53-40 in NACC play against Concordia University Wisconsin. The Eagles found themselves in an early deficit and were unable to overcome it, dropping them to 2-2 in conference play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons led 23-9 after the first quarter and extended its lead to a game-high 17 points with 7:42 left in the opening half (28-11). The Eagles would get the score back to 13 points at halftime but could never get within single digits.

- In the second half the Eagles got as close as 10 midway through the fourth quarter, but that would be as close as things would get in the 13-point contest.

- Allison Gordon posted a double-double for Edgewood College, scoring 10 points and adding 10 rebounds. Lexi Walter led all players with 11 rebounds as the Eagles finished with a 39-36 edge on the glass. Walter also blocked five shots as the Eagles finished the game with nine blocks. 

- The Eagles committed 17 turnovers on Saturday, compared to just nine for the Falcons. CUW also finished with a 26-18 edge in points in the paint.

- Abby Shane led the Eagles with 11 points. Shane also had the only three made 3-pointers for Edgewood College Saturday. The Eagles finished the game 3-of-11 from deep while the Falcons countered at 4-of-12.

- Brooke Lonigro dished out five assists for the Eagles.

THE OPPOSITION
- Arianna Liddicoat led a balanced Falcons squad with 11 points. Camryn Szolyga added 10 points.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles have a week off before visiting Rockford next Saturday at 2 p.m.
