ROCKFORD, Ill. – Balanced shooting and three career-best performances from Edgewood College led to a 97-51 victory over Rockford University on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles defense held the Regents to nine percent shooting in the first period. Abby Shane poured in a career-high 26 points to go with two assists and six 3-pointers as the Eagles improve to 3-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got off to a quick 10-0 lead in the first period and never looked back, taking a 48 point lead with three minutes left in the fourth period.
- Two records were broken on Saturday afternoon, as the Eagles distributed the ball extremely well and came away with 29 assists, the most in history. Edgewood College also made a record number of 3-pointers, with 13 overall six of which came from Shane.
- In a contest where 15 different Eagles scored, three newcomers Mady Pahl (3 points), Ciara Cooke (6 points), and Valerie Farber (3 points) dropped their first points in an Eagles uniform.
- Career nights came from sophomore Shane with 26 points, Alyssa Lemirande with 12 points, and 12 assists from Brooke Lonigro.
- Lonigro also put up a season-high six steals, which is tied for 4th most in the Edgewood College history books.
- The Eagles ended the contest with a final score of 97 points, which is tied for the 3rd most points in a game in the record books.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Lonigro not only leads the NACC with 6.9 assists per game, but now sits in a tie for sixth place in the NCAA.
- Three Eagles own top-5 spots in the NACC offensive leaderboard. Allison Gordon sits in fourth place with 8.4 rebounds per game, Maryn Ferron owns a fourth place spot in 3pt. percentage with 44.1%, and Lexi Walter's 58.1 field goal percentage is good for second place overall.
THE OPPOSITION
- Four Regents finished in double-figures, as Linxy Keller finished with 16 points, Lexi Range with 14 points, Sammi Russell with 10 points, and Nichole Silvers with 10 points. Keller also led the Regents defense with seven rebounds.
