Slow start dooms Eagles in NACC opener

MADISON, Wis. – Despite a strong second half effort that saw a triumphant effort from senior McClain Steffens, the Edgewood College men's basketball team were unable to recover from a 16 point deficit at the half in an 83-69 defeat against Lakeland University on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lakeland University jumped out to a quick 26-9 lead and never looked back. The Muskies dominated the period with their largest lead at 17 points, behind a 10 point scoring run. The Eagles put up a seven point run sparked by a 3 pointer from junior Jacob Miller.
- In the second half the Eagles found success from within the paint, as 30 of their 41 points came from close range.
- The senior trio of McClain Steffens, Emil Radisevic, and Tyler Lemke led the way for the Eagles. Steffens finished with 13 points and five rebounds, Radisevic with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Lemke with 10 points and four rebounds.
- Jake Negus distributed the ball well for the Eagles as he finishing the game with four assists and added six points overall.

THE OPPOSITION
- Zach Hasenstein led the Muskies offense, scoring an impressive 26 points and dishing out five assists. Carlos Campos wasn't far behind with 19 points of his own.
- Shakur Jinad pulled down nine rebounds and came away with three steals.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will take on Concordia Chicago on the road Saturday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. in River Forest, Ill.
