Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Cougars shutout Eagles in River Forest

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team was limited to seven shots and was shutout for the first time by Concordia University Chicago. Eagle goalkeeper Grace Wildeboer made an impressive career-high 13 saves, but was unable to stop just two shots from the Cougars in a 2-0 loss on Saturday. 

Edgewood College (1-9-1, 1-1 NACC) took the first shot of the contest, as a shot off the foot of Mari Hubanks hit off the crossbar in the 6th minute. Concordia Chicago (4-9, 4-0 NACC) grabbed an early lead with a goal coming off the foot of Janette Moreno in the 12th minute. Esmeralda Torres came through with the assist off a cross from 10 yards out, Moreno finished off the play netting the ball from 15 yards out. Edgewood College's defense held firm for the remainder of the half. Aubrey Tarmann and Lauren Clark took two more shots on goal in the first half, both were saved by Concordia Chicago's Madeline Kroll.

The Cougars got things going early in the second half with a flurry of shots in the first 12 minutes. Edgewood College goalkeeper Grace Wildeboer made a fantastic seven saves to keep the CUC lead to just one. Carolyn Evers would take two shots for the Eagles before the Cougars would strike again, netting their second goal of the game off a corner kick in the 68th minute.

In all Evers registered two shots, one of which was on goal. The Eagles were outshot 22-7 for the game. Edgewood College goalkeeper, Grace Wildeboer made a season and career-high 13 saves in the contest.

The Eagles will return home to host Wisconsin Lutheran College on Wednesday night at Breese Stevens Field. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
