Warriors second-half goals send Eagles NACC setback

MADISON, Wis. – Visiting Wisconsin Lutheran College scored a pair of late second half goals, resulting in a 2-0 setback for the Edgewood College Women's Soccer team Wednesday night at Breese Stevens Field.

The match was scoreless until the 78th minute when the Warriors Helen Joyce buried her 14th goal of the season. Her shot hit off the right post and went in for the game-winner. In the 86th minute, Erika Yanke converted a long free kick to make the final score 2-0.

The two Wisconsin Lutheran scores came an advantage for the visiting team. The Eagles played most of the second half with 10 players due to a red card in the 53rd minute.

Edgewood College fired nine shots in the opening half, compared to seven first-half attempts for the Warriors, as the two teams were scoreless after 45 minutes of play. The Eagles keeper, Grace Wildeboer made three first-half saves and finished the match with five stops.

Both teams finished the contest with 12 shots. The Warriors ended up with seven shots on goal compared to five for Edgewood College. Rosanna Mazzulla tallied five saves for Wisconsin Lutheran.

Five different Eagles recorded multiple shots in the match, including a team-best three from Carrie Radomsky (Portage, Mich.). Joyce of Wisconsin Lutheran led all players with four shots.

Edgewood College will host NACC-leading Dominican Saturday at Breese Stevens Field at 11 a.m. The match will be the first part of a Women's/Men's Soccer doubleheader.
