MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College Women's Soccer team celebrated the career of five seniors in a Sunday showdown with Illinois Tech at Breese Stevens Field. The Scarlet Hawks scored three times in the first half, resulting in a 3-0 setback for the Eagles.
The seniors celebrated at halftime of the NACC match were:
Sarah Deininger,
Mady Warda,
Carrie Radomsky,
Mari Hubanks, and
Alisha Nolden. They have helped the Eagles to 31 wins over the past four years.
The first half was controlled by the visiting Scarlet Hawks who scored three times in the opening 28 minutes of play. Caeli Kennedy scored what ended up as the game-winner, striking 5:16 into the match. Cosette Thompson and Jamie Griggs added first-half goals for Illinois Tech.
In the second half, the Eagles kept the Scarlet Hawks off the board and had a few strong scoring chances of their own. Edgewood College finished with 10 shots in the match, five off the foot of Hubanks.
Grace Wildeboer finished the match with six saves for the Eagles. Wildeboer also starred before the match, singing the national anthem for those in attendance. Catherine Klemp finished the contest with three saves in a shutout win for Illinois Tech.
The Eagles will conclude their season Wednesday against Marian. Kickoff at Breese Stevens Field is set for 7 p.m.
