WATERTOWN, Wis. – Alisha Nolden and her fellow Edgewood College Women's Soccer team know their time on the pitch is closely coming to an end. On Friday, in one of the group's final matches together, Nolden delivered one of the better moments of her career, scoring with 50 seconds left in double overtime of a 2-1 win at Maranatha Baptist University.
Nolden took a pass from fellow senior
Mari Hubanks and buried the game-winning goal with just under a minute left in the second extra session. The goal was the first of the season for Nolden and gave Edgewood College its second-straight win.
The Eagles, who heavily outshot the Sabercats on Friday, needed some late-match heroics just to force overtime.
Carrie Radomsky provided the game-tying goal with 3:42 left in regulation, Hubanks once again recording the assist.
Edgewood College found itself trailing for most of the match as Jaclyn Dahl of host Maranatha Baptist scored in the 14th minute. The Eagles controlled possession throughout but couldn't get on the board until the final minutes of the contest. Edgewood College finished the match with a 41-5 advantage in shots, firing 20 of those 41 shots on goal.
Grace Wildeboer helped keep the Eagles within one throughout the match, registering four saves. Her counterpart, Hannah Wells, was plenty busy, finishing the match with 18 saves.
Aubrey Tarmann led all players with 10 shots, four of those coming on goal. Hubanks was also on the attack for much of the afternoon, recording nine shots with six of those coming on goal.
The Eagles will look for their third-straight win when they return home Sunday for a NACC battle with Illinois Tech. Sunday will also be Senior Day at Breese Stevens Field and the match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
