Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Eagles suffer loss to Muskies' furious comeback

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – If the Edgewood College men's basketball team comes up short of their goals this season, Wednesday night's game is one they will wish they could take back. Edgewood College held an 18-point second half lead, only to see Lakeland roar from behind for a stunning 79-73 win. The Muskies scored 36 points in the final 12 minutes of the game.

Everything looked rosy for Edgewood College (6-11, 6-6 NACC) as they opened up a 56-38 lead in the first part of the second half. The Eagles made their first nine shots from the field to open the half, started by a pair of layups for Emil Radisevic. Ben Seefeld had a pair of buckets and Sy Staver scored on a sweeping reverse layup and the Eagles seemed firmly in control.

Edgewood College still lead 60-43 when Radisevic scored off an assist by Jacob Miller with just under 12 minutes left, but everything fell apart at that point. Lakeland University (11-6, 8-5 NACC) went on a 23-5 run to take the lead, capped off by a four-point play by Zach Hasenstein with 4:35 left to go. Lakeland extended their lead to 74-65 before Radisevic ended the run with two free throws. Radisevic and McClain Steffens scored layups down the stretch, but the damage had been done.

Radisevic finished with 21 points on 9-for-12 shooting and a game-high nine rebounds. Negus had 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Seefeld was 7-for-9 from the field for 15 points, while Steffens made all four of his shots to finish with 10 points. Sy Staver had a team-high six assists.

Pat McDonald scored 23 points for the Muskies, leading Lakeland University's four players in double figures. Hasenstein had 15 points and six rebounds. The Muskies were strong at the free throw line, going 13-for-15 for the game.

Edgewood College will regroup with a rare Saturday off and return to action on Tuesday, January 23 with a home game against Rockford University.
