Falcons cool off Eagles in Mequon

MEQUON, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer had been scoring goals in bunches over the past two weeks, but Concordia University Wisconsin figured out how to cool off the Eagles on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons scored two goals in the first half and hung on for a 3-1 victory at Fitting Field. Eagle goalkeeper Dan Dombrowski made 11 saves in the loss.

Concordia University Wisconsin (4-2-3, 2-0 NACC) put early pressure on the Eagles net forcing Dombrowski to make three saves in the first 12 minutes. The Falcons' Colin Dibb broke through in the 16th minute for the first goal of the game. The Eagles began to generate some offense soon after creating two corner kicks and a shot on goal for Jordan Stark, but CUW tallied again in the 29th minute.

Just 93 second into the second half, the Falcons made the score 3-0 on a goal by Dagoberto Diaz. The Eagles finally got on the board at the stroke of the 88th minute. Luke Miller pass to the center of the box found the left foot of Sean Surtees. Surtees scored into the lower right corner of the net for his fifth goal of the season.

CUW outshot Edgewood College (6-3, 1-2 NACC) 24-14 on the day, with the Eagles putting six shots on goal. Miller accounted for six of the shots, including three on goal. Edgewood College generated nine corner kicks for the game.

Edgewood College will venture back out on the road for their next NACC match. It will be a Saturday affair at Benedictine University with kickoff set for 4:00 p.m.
