Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Eagles bust out with seven goals vs. Sabercats

MADISON, Wis. – It was just the kind of game the Edgewood College women's soccer team needed. After struggling to score in their first five matches, the Eagles exploded for seven goals in a 7-0 shutout of Maranatha Baptist University. Seven different Eagles scored in the game, including Ashley Siegel, Holly Gura and Autumn Bultman who each scored their first career collegiate goals.

Mady Warda got the Eagles off to a fast start with an unassisted goal in the fifth minute. In the 39th minute, it was Siegel's turn to write her name in the book. Carrie Radomsky fed a through ball straight up the middle to Siegel, who calmly faced the goalkeeper and deposited the ball into the right corner of the net. It was Siegel's first career goal in her second season with the Eagles.

Edgewood College (3-3) carried a 2-0 lead into halftime, but not even a minute longer. Just 24 seconds into the second half, Warda escaped down the left sideline and fed the ball to Alisha Nolden. Nolden's shot snuck inside the right post for her first goal of the season. In the 58th minute, Warda set up Gura, who found the net with a shot from 15 yards out.

Ten minutes later, Reganne Cutsforth took a corner kick that slipped past the Sabercats goalkeeper. Hannah Menzia got just a touch on the loose ball in front of the net, but it was enough for her third goal of the season. The Eagles added two more goals in the final five minutes, first on a long distance blast from senior Marian Walton, and then on a strong shot through traffic from Bultman.

For the Eagles, it was the most goals scored in a game since an 8-0 victory over Lakeland College on October 17, 2015. Grace Wildeboer made two first half saves to earn her third win and third shutout on the season. Edgewood College outshot Maranatha Baptist 34-3 on the day.

Edgewood College will be right back in action at the Goodman Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles will host Grinnell College in a non-conference match beginning at 2:00 p.m.
