BLUFFTON, Ohio – Freshman Jordan Stark scored his first career goal and added one assist to guide the Edgewood College men's soccer team over Bluffton University (Ohio), 3-2, in a dominant performance on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagle offense matched its highest scoring output of the season after racking up a season-high 27 shots, including 16 on goal, and 12 corner kicks. After the Eagles (3-1) came up empty in their first 14 shots, Stark put the Eagles (3-1) on the board with his first goal in the 36th minute. Less than two minutes later, Garrett Lee found the back of the net for the second time this year off a Stark assist to go up 2-0.
Two minutes into the second half, Sean Surtees gave the Eagles a 3-1 lead with his team-leading third goal. The Beavers (0-4), having been outscored 26-4 this season, made it interesting with a score in the 83rd minute, but were held to just one shot the rest of the way.
Stark paced the offense with a team-high six shots as seven starters registered multiple shots against Beaver goalkeeper Connor Kaminicki, who posted 13 saves. Twenty players saw action today, including both goalkeepers, in the Eagles longest road trip of the year.
The Eagles face Lawrence University on the road this Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m.
