MEQUON, Wis. – Senior Travis Kell put the team on his back, but even his career-high performance wasn't enough against a hot-shooting Concordia University Wisconsin team. The Edgewood College men's basketball team fell to Falcons on Saturday by a score of 91-65 despite Kell scoring nearly half the Eagles points with a 32-point performance.
Kell scored the Eagles' first eight points of the game, and Sy Staver gave Edgewood College (1-5, 1-2 NACC) an early 10-8 lead with a driving layup, but the Eagles could do little to slow down the Falcons. Concordia University Wisconsin (2-4, 1-2 NACC) mad 11 of their next 12 shots from the field to open up a 39-26 lead. Kell scored two more baskets and Emil Radisevic added another to get the Eagles back within seven points at 39-32, but that was as close as Edgewood College would get.
Kell finished the first half with 20 points on 9-12 shooting, but the Falcons still led 52-40 at halftime on the strength of their 57.1 percent shooting. Concordia Wisconsin began the second half on a 10-2 run to push the margin to 20 points and cruise to the victory.
Kell's 32-point outburst doubled his previous best as an Eagle and broke the 31 points he scored against Concordia University Chicago as a member of Lakeland College's team on December 15, 2015. Today, Kell was 13-for-17 from the floor, including a three-pointer and 5-for-5 at the free throw line.
Ben Seefeld came off the bench to score eight points, while Radisevic had six points and a team-high seven rebounds. Edgewood College shot just 37.3 percent from the field, including 3-for-17 from the three-point line.
Concordia Wisconsin had four players in double figures led by Jordan Johnson's 19 points off the bench. Jake Jurss and Andrew Fratzke each had 16 points, while Josh Hau scored 12. The Falcons finished the game at 53.6 percent shooting.
Edgewood College will attempt to find the winning touch back in the Edgedome, with a Wednesday night date with MSOE. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
