Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lee, Bilodeau score twice in shutout of Muskies

MADISON, Wis. – After opening the conference season with three tough losses to some of the NACC's heavy hitters, the Edgewood College men's soccer team took out their frustrations on Lakeland University. The Eagles dominated the game from the beginning and rolled to a 5-0 victory over the Muskies at Breese Stevens Field.

Edgewood College (7-4, 2-3 NACC) wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the fourth minute. Sean Surtees and Henry Simon connected on a 1-2 pass, and then slid the ball in front to Garrett Lee who pounded the ball into the roof of the net for a 1-0 Eagles lead. In the 20th minute, Lee struck again, this time with a one-touch shot off a Luke Miller cross that beat Muskies goalkeeper Thomis Mannebach inside the right post.

Lee now has 11 goals on the season, surpassing his career-high of 10 set last year. With 27 career goals, he now ranks seventh in Edgewood College history in goals scored and 10th in total scoring with 63 career points.

In the second half, freshman Jordan Stark lit up the scoreboard with a brilliant solo effort. In the 57th minute, Stark battled to win a ball in the corner, and turned into the penalty area where he split two Lakeland defenders. He then juked a third defender and lifted a shot under the crossbar for his third goal of the season, and one for the highlight reel.

The Eagles finished the match with a pair of scores from Nicholas Bilodeau. Mamadou Jawo slid a pass across the box to Bilodeau who was breaking in from the left wing for his first goal in the 75th minute. Then with less than two minutes remaining in the game, Biloeau capped the scoring by picking off a Muskies pass, and firing a low shot that banked in off the left post.

Eagle goalkeeper Brandyn Storhoff made five saves to earn his first career shutout. Edgewood College outshot the Muskies 40-6 for the game.

Edgewood College will be back in action at Breese Stevens Field on Saturday for a 4:00 match with Concordia University Chicago.
