Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Offense comes up short against Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Despite outshooting the Sabres, 17-11, and putting seven shots on goal, the Edgewood College women's soccer team dropped their conference finale, 1-0, at Marian on Wednesday night.

After playing to a scoreless first half that saw a combined seven shots on goal, the Eagles surrendered (7-11, 3-7 NACC) the game's only goal in the 50th minute. The Sabres (10-8, 6-4 NACC) took advantage of a rebound off one of Grace Wildeboer's five saves to notch the game winner in the 50th minute.

The Eagles launched seven more shots down the stretch, including one on goal by Morgan Kearney, but were held scoreless for the second straight match. Their best opportunities came on a pair of Autumn Bultman's attempts off the post in the 53rd minute and a near point blank shot that went high in the 77th.

Bultman came off the bench and tied the team lead with Mady Warda and Lauren Clark at four shots apiece. Warda put three of her four shots on goal, but were directed right at the Marian goalkeeper who finished with seven saves. Wildeboer finished with five saves in defeat.

Next up is the season finale against UW-Whitewater at Reddan Soccer Park in Verona this Friday.
