Lee, Eagles overwhelm Regents on the road

LOVES PARK, Ill. – Junior Garrett Lee scored twice and tied the all-time single season scoring record with 15 goals and the Edgewood College men's soccer team utilized three quick goals in the second half to overwhelm Rockford, 4-2, Wednesday night on the road.

Lee, having one of the greatest scoring seasons in Eagle history, has scored in all but four matches this season and recorded his fourth multi-goal match in NACC play in win against Rockford (3-12-1, 1-7 NACC). With one more goal, Lee will break a five-way tie for the current single season record.

The Menomonee Falls, Wis. native provided a highlight reel play off Riley Moore's first assist after cashing in from 20 yards out to open up the scoring in the 29th minute. Lee's 15th goal from nearly point blank range off a Jordan Stark assist put the finishing touches on the Eagles 14th straight win over Rockford in the 74th minute to give Edgewood College the 4-1 lead.

Tied 1-1 at halftime, it was Lee's final goal that capped a three-goal flurry from the 63rd to the 74th minute that ultimately led to the Eagles fourth-straight victory. Henry Simon converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute and was closely followed by Victor Lombardino's tap-in from the 6-yard box in the 66th.

Eagle goalkeeper Dan Dombrowski kept his streak alive after posting six saves in his seventh win of the year. The freshman now has at least six saves in all four of his conference starts.

Despite getting outshot, 19-13, the Eagles (10-4, 5-3 NACC) moved into a tie for fourth-place in the NACC standings with two conference matches remaining.

The Eagles face their first non-conference foe in over a month when they face Cornell College on the road, tomorrow, October 19 at 4:30 p.m.
