MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball remained within striking distance the entire game, but Aurora University held off the Eagles in a 62-51 loss at the Edgedome on Saturday. Sidney Peach scored a career-high with 17 points in the game, while Allison Gordon led the team with 18 points.
Ultimately, it ended up being the first quarter the set Edgewood College (0-19, 0-14 NACC) behind for the remainder of the game. The Eagles played Aurora University (4-15, 3-11 NACC) nearly even over the final three periods, but a 14-6 deficit after the first proved the difference.

Cali Twet hit two three-pointers on back-to-back possessions to close the Spartans' lead to 33-28 midway through the third period. Then with less than two minutes remaining in the third period, Peach hit her first three-pointer of the game to pull the Eagles within one possession at 36-33. However, Aurora scored the final four points of the quarter to hold a 40-33 advantage.
The Eagles seemed on the brink of breaking through for much of the fourth quarter but Aurora was able to keep them at arm's length. Peach hit another three-pointer to keep the Eagles' within 42-36. Later Gordon and Peach scored on consecutive trips down the floor to pull Edgewood College within seven with two minutes to play, but the Eagles would get no closer. Aurora converted all six of their free throw attempts in the final minute.
