MADISON, Wis. – It was a victorious return to Breese Stevens Field as the Edgewood College men's soccer team routed Rockford, 6-0, behind two goals and two assists from Emilio Toscano on Wednesday afternoon.
After playing their last two home games away from Breese, the Eagles (4-6, 1-3 NACC) made their emphatic return and launched a season-high 32 shots, including 14 on goal, while scoring three times in each half. Defensively, the Eagles limited the Regents (5-4-1, 1-2 NACC) to six shots as starting goalkeeper Ethan Schneider (4-6) and Brandyn Storhoff split time in goal in the Eagles third shutout of the year.
Toscano and the Eagles sprinted out to a 3-0 lead in the game's first 28 minutes as the freshman scored his first career goals on assists from Henry Simon right in front of the goal in the 10th minute and off Sean Surtees' shallow pass from the right side at the 28-minute mark. Toscano returned the favor early in the second half with a pair of assists to Garrett Lee.
Backing up Lee's third, multi-goal game of the season was Simon, who also scored in the first, and Nicholas Bilodeau, who notched the Eagles' final goal in the 82nd against Rockford's third goalie.
It was the Eagles second victory by at least six goals this season as they beat the Regents for the 13th straight time and improved to 13-2 in the all-time series.
