Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Seabrook and the Eagles outlast Benedictine

OREGON, Wis. – Goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook tied a season-high with seven saves, while sophomore Alisha Nolden and senior Carley Hanko each scored as the Edgewood College women's soccer team won their third-straight match in a 2-1 victory over Benedictine on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles (5-2, 2-0 NACC) won their third-straight match and remain undefeated in six home matches, despite playing in three different locations. Today's game at Oregon High School came down to the final minutes after Hanko notched her first goal of the season and the eventual game-winner at the 76-minute mark.

Shortly after, Taylor Pokorny, Benedictine's leading goal scorer, cut Edgewood College's lead to 2-1 in the 82nd minute thanks to a lob shot over Seabrook. The junior finally broke through after putting four of her game-high six shots on goal.

Seabrook, who notched five saves in a frantic first half, staved off four shots in the final six minutes to preserve their 13th win in 14 meetings against Benedictine (3-5-1, 1-1 NACC). Nolden opened the scoring with an 11th minute goal off Skaer's assist in a crowded box as part of a first half that saw eight combined shots on goal. Skaer was key with a number of precision crosses as Edgewood College dominated possession early on.

This game marks the 10th straight game the Eagles' fate has been decided by one goal.

Next up for the Eagles is a matchup at Alverno this Wednesday, September 28 at 4:00 p.m.
