Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Early goal propels Eagles in another close win

VERONA, Wis. – Sophomore Alisha Nolden delivered another game-winner, this time in the 10th minute as the Edgewood College women's soccer team outlasted Aurora, 1-0, in their NACC opener on Saturday afternoon.

Nolden converted a perfect pass from senior Taylor Pampuch from the left side into the middle of the box for her second game-winner in the last three games. The Eagles (4-2, 1-0 NACC) avenged last season's defeat in the NACC opener against Aurora (1-4-1, 0-1 NACC), despite getting outshot 5-0 in the second half and attempting only one corner kick the entire game.

Senior forward Emily Skaer nearly broke the Eagles record-setting streak of eight games decided by one goal after a pair of one-on-one looks with the goalie in the 24th and 26th minutes. Both shots were nearly identical and sailed just high of the crossbar from inside the 18-yard box.

Senior goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook finished with five saves in her third shutout of the season with her most important save coming in the the 81st minute.

The Eagles improved to 4-11 against the Spartans and won for the second time in the last 10 meetings.

Next up for the Eagles is a match with Cornell College this Wednesday at Reddan Soccer Park in Verona, Wis. at 7:00 p.m.
