MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team surrendered five, second-half goals in a physical defeat, 6-0, to Lawrence at home on Wednesday night.
The Eagles (3-3) trailed just 1-0 at the break after winning the battle of possession and matching Lawrence with eight shots attempted. The Vikings (2-3) turned the tables in a physical second half that saw 16 fouls called and all four yellow cards issued.
Lawrence beat the Eagles for only the second time in the last nine meetings by netting four goals in the final 30 minutes and outshooting the Eagles, 11-3, in the final half.
Returning All-MWC player, Michael Deremo, scored two goals with one assist for the Vikings.
Senior defender Jesse Greenwood attempted a team-high three shots and was the only Eagle to play the entire 90 minutes. The Eagles, who had shut out Lawrence in five of their last six meetings, dropped to 12-5-1 in the all-time series.
Next up for the Eagles is their NACC opener against Aurora this Saturday, September 17 at Reddan Soccer Park in Verona, Wis.
