DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Held to a season-low 29.8 percent from the field, the Edgewood College men's basketball team dropped their Land of Magic Classic finale, 70-48, to Ursinus College (Pa.) on Friday afternoon.
Sophomores McClain Steffens and Tyler Lemke each posted 12 points while combining to score half of the team's total on a day where the Eagle offense struggled to get going. The Eagles (2-8) shot just 23.3 percent compared to Ursinus' 42 percent in the first half en route to a 35-21 deficit. Over the course of the game, the Eagles committed 13 turnovers to five assists and shot 2 of 19 from 3-point land.
The Bears (6-5) shot 55 percent in the second half as the Eagles got no closer than 14 points early on and trailed by as many as 28 with four minutes to go. Led by Matt Knowles' 14 points and four assists, the Bears won the first meeting between the two teams.
Lemke added six rebounds and Emil Radisevic posted eight points and five boards. All 13 Eagles saw playing time in defeat.
The Eagles host Wisconsin Lutheran on January 4 in their first game of 2017.
