EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Despite missing two veteran players, the Edgewood College women's basketball team posted their highest offensive output of the season in an 85-48 loss at UW-Eau Claire. Freshman Cali Twet scored a season-high 20 points in the Eagles final non-conference game before their NACC opener on Saturday.
UW-Eau Claire (3-2) jumped on the Eagles early scoring the first seven points of the game, and leading 26-3 before Aga Sron and Morgan Michaels scored the final two baskets of the first period. Edgewood College (0-3) gathered themselves and competed much closer the rest of the game. In the fourth quarter, Twet scored eight of her game-high 20 points, as the Eagles posted 16 points.
Twet nailed four three-pointers on her 20-point night. MacKenzie Meyers and Marissa Hoyer scored nine point apiece while Hoyer had a team-high six rebounds. Morgan Michaels scored seven points for a new season-high. Edgewood College shot a season-best 35 percent (7-for-20) from the three-point line. The Eagles played without senior Sidney Peach and sophomore Allison Gordon.
UW-Eau Claire had 15 different players in the scoring column led by Anna Graaskamp and Bree Meier with 10 points each. The Blugolds shot 53.4 percent from the field and had 18 assists on 31 field goals.
Edgewood College will begin their 2016-17 NACC campaign on Saturday with a road trip to Lakeland University. The Eagles and the Muskies will tipoff at 2:00 p.m.
