MADISON, Wis. – Sophomore Alisha Nolden's 49th minute goal off senior Emily Skaer's assist and senior Sabelle Seabrook's eight saves propelled the Edgewood College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over St. Norbert on Senior Day.
Having already punched their ticket to the NACC Tournament semifinals, the Eagles (13-4) and senior goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook finished 9-1 at home with their 10th shutout of the season. Seabrook collected eight saves after facing 11 shots by the Green Knights (9-6-1).
Both teams recorded four corner kicks and had a number of chances to score. St. Norbert's Ellie Lochner launched a game-high five shots, with four of those on goal, and forced Seabrook to use every inch of her 5-10 frame to deter most of her attempts.
Nolden connected on off Skaer's assist from the right side on a slick breakaway to take the first lead after a competitive, but scoreless first half.
Normally defensive after securing a lead, the Eagles showed flashes of offensive aggression in the final half with three offsides and a quick flurry of three shots on goal by subs, junior Mariah Walton and freshman Hewan Schade.
Seniors Haley Gaines, Stevie Grable, Carley Hanko, Taylor Pampuch, Ashley Pandow, Skaer, and Seabrook were honored at halftime with their parents. All but one has started at least 15 matches this season.
The Eagles head to UW-Platteville this Wednesday, October 26 at 5:00 p.m. for their regular season finale. They will host the NACC tournament semifinals next Tuesday, November 1.
