Road rally falls short against Lakeland

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Junior Henry Simon tied it up at two in the 56th minute to help the Edgewood College men's soccer team rally from a 2-0 deficit, but Lakeland knocked in the game winner at the 68-minute mark on Saturday afternoon.

Down 2-0 in the 31st minute, sophomore Garrett Lee countered in the 32nd minute with his team-high 10th goal of the season, while Simon scored in the 56th. Both goals came off passes from senior Jesse Greenwood.

Lakeland's (4-11, 2-5 NACC) game-winner by their leading scorer, Charles Apostolik, capped the scoring and snapped the Eagles four-game win streak in the series.

The Eagles (6-10, 3-5 NACC) allowed their quickest goal of the season after Lakeland found the back of the net just 58 seconds into the match. Another goal in the 31st minute put the Eagles in an early 2-0 hole.

Goalkeepers Brandyn Storhoff (0-1) added two saves and Ethan Schneider collected five as the pair each played one half in goal, but couldn't prevent the Eagles from suffering their fourth straight defeat.

Next up the Eagles face Wisconsin Lutheran in their final regular season home match this Wednesday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m.
