PLYMOUTH, Wis. – With their fourth sweep over a NACC opponent, the Eagles made quick work out of Lakeland, 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-21), to win their fifth-straight match.
Junior Emily Chaussee posted nine kills and 13 digs to lead the Eagles (13-10, 5-1 NACC) to their ninth straight win over the Muskies in dominant fashion. The Muskies (10-11, 3-3 NACC) were held in check and posted a mere .073 hitting percentage on the match, including -.026 in the opening set. Junior Renee Meister, who collected a game-high five blocks to go with seven kills, and the Eagle defense allowed them to hold the lead for the entirety of the first two sets.
It got interesting in the final set as the Muskies forced the Eagles into a 12-7 hole. Highlighted by a pair of kills from senior Elizabeth Evans, the Eagle attack went on a 7-2 run to tie it up at 14. Both battled to a 21-21 tie, until the Eagles closed out the match on a 4-0 run thanks to three Muskie errors and the Eagles' only service ace of the match by junior Haley Schwenn.
Evans posted double-digit digs for the fifth time in the last six matches with a team-high 14 digs and added three blocks as well.
Next up the Eagles face Aurora University this Friday, October 14 at 7:00 p.m. in search of their seventh straight home victory. Both Evans and Jenna Dammen will be honored for Senior Night.
