BELOIT, Wis. – A banged up Edgewood College men's soccer team played their third match in four days, and some of the fatigue and players lost to injuries showed in a 3-1 setback to Beloit College. The Buccaneers scored three times in the first half to send the Eagles to their third straight defeat.
Beloit College (6-5-1) got a pair of goals from Jose Gutierrez sandwiched around a 16th minute score from Daniel Stockton. Beloit held a 10-4 advantage in shots in the first half.
In the second half, Garrett Lee made sure the Eagles avoided a shutout with a goal in the 62nd minute. For Lee it was his ninth goal of the season, this one coming off an assist from Victor Lombardino. Lee now moves into a tie for third place in the NACC in both goals and points. For the game, the Eagles put more shots on net than Beloit by a count of 9-5.
Ethan Schneider started in goal for the Eagles and made two saves, before being relieved at halftime by Steven Canterbury who faced three shots, but all were off target.
Edgewood College will have three days off to rest before returning to a key NACC match against Lakeland University on Saturday. The Muskies and Eagles will get underway in Plymouth at 3:30 p.m.
