LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Edgewood College lost its first game of the 2015 season on a hot Sunday afternoon at Farwell Field against 14th-ranked Lake Forest College. The Foresters, who began this year with a 9-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran last Tuesday, used a pair of first-half goals and added another early on in the second to put away a 2-1 Eagles team.

The Foresters were particularly active on the offensive end, firing 19 shots on the day, with Edgewood College goaltender Sabelle Seabrook stopping six shots in a full 90 minutes of action. The Eagles managed six, three of which were on target.

Lake Forest, a team that went 21-1 overall last season and made a trip to the NCAA Tournament, put away the first score of the game thanks to Amy Sherman in the 14th minute on an assist from Holly Lesperance and Sam Hillis. Michelle Greeneway then made it a two-goal game just over 10 minutes later on a helper from Lesperance.

Lesperance added her third and fourth points of the game in the 60th minute on a goal assisted by Nina Perkkio.

At the half, the Eagles were outshot 10-1 but turned up the intensity a couple of notches in the second with five. Stevie Grable was the lone Edgewood College player to record multiple shots, with one of those being on target. Brooke Menzia, Hannah Menzia, Haley Gaines and Alisha Nolden recorded the other shots for the Eagles on the day.

Rachel Tenuta notched the win in net for the Foresters and stopped three shots.

The Eagles will be off until Friday, Sept. 11, when they will travel to UW-Stevens Point for a 4 pm matchup at Point Soccer Bowl.
