Eagles improve to 2-0 after W at North Park

CHICAGO – Edgewood College is perfect after two games following a 2-1 win over North Park University at Holmgren Complex early Friday evening. The Eagles are now 2-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2011 season, a year in which they started the year 4-0.

Two goals eight minutes apart propelled the Eagles to another non-conference victory. That coupled with an aggressive but patient defense allowed the Eagles to keep the Vikings out of sync offensively.

Senior forward Jennifer Dailey got things going for the Eagles with her first tally of the season at the 22nd minute. Junior Taylor Pampuch was there for the assist on a goal that sailed past North Park goaltender Sydney Martinez into the upper right corner.

Pampuch, who started her junior campaign on Tuesday with three assists in a 4-1 win over Beloit College, gave the Eagles the two-goal cushion just eight minutes later on an unassisted play that also flew past Martinez near the upper right goalpost.

North Park made it a one-goal affair right before the half, as Annika Nyquist slid one past Eagles goaltender Sabelle Seabrook in the 43rd minute.

The Eagles defense was in top form throughout most of the second half. North Park's Marina Barrios registered a shot in the 47th minute but the Vikings wouldn't tally another one until the 73rd minute. They would go on to tack on two more, but none over the final 6:50 of the contest.

In all, Seabrook stopped seven shots on the night to record her second-straight win.

The Eagles will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 6 against No. 14 Lake Forest College away from home. The Foresters managed a 1-0 victory against the Eagles last season. The matchup on Sunday will take place at Farwell Field in Lake Forest, Ill., and will begin at 1 pm.
