CHICAGO, Ill. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team suffered their first defeat of the season by way of a 4-0 shutout at North Park University on Friday night. The Vikings scored twice in each half and outshot the Eagles 24-10 to drop Edgewood College's record to 1-1.
North Park University (2-0) scored in the eighth minute on a goal by Chase Lennartz to move ahead 1-0. The Eagles responded with a two shots on goal over the next 12 minutes, but Luke Miller's shot in the 14th minute and Sammy Tazifua's effort in the 20th minute were both stopped by Vikings' goalkeeper Chris Tomuta. NPU doubled their lead with a goal by Pedram Tahmi-Masoleh in the 36th minute.
The Eagles could only account for one more shot on goal in the second half, off the foot of Luke O'Toole. The Vikings' Kebba Sanyang and Michal Walaszek scored North Park's two second half goals. Tazifua was credited with two shots to lead the Eagles, while goalkeeper Kyle Wood made eight saves.
Edgewood College will head back to Illinois on Sunday, for a 1:30 p.m. match at Knox College.
