MADISON, Wis. – After a scoreless first half on Monday night, it felt like the Edgewood College women's soccer team just needed one goal to get their offense back on track. Once they got that goal, the Eagles never let up in a 5-0 victory over Lawrence University. The win snapped a rare five-game losing streak for the Eagles.
Edgewood College (3-5) tallied 11 shots in the first half, but none were particularly dangerous and Lawrence University (5-4) goalkeeper Patsy Kealey made four saves. Finally in the 52nd minute, the dam gave way. Taylor Pampuch eluded a defender in the right hand corner and made her way up the end line. She found Jennifer Dailey streaking in for a one-touch finish from the edge of the goal box. Before the dust settled, Pampuch had a goal of her own. An Eagle cross ricocheted off a Viking defender to Pampuch who wasted no time in driving a shot from 15 yards out past Kealey for a 2-0 lead.
Following a Viking own goal in the 60th minute, Dailey added an assist to her evening record. Dailey broke free on the right wing and dropped a pass across the middle to a sliding Emily Skaer. Skaer got her foot to the ball first and poked into the net for a 4-0 Eagles lead. Edgewood College capped the scoring in the 74th minute when Mariah Walton fed Hannah Menzia for her first goal of the season.
Sabelle Seabrook didn't have to get her uniform dirty in recording her first career shutout. Lawernce had three shots, all from Casey Merkle, but none forced a save. The Eagles had only seven goals in their first seven games before scoring five tonight.
Edgewood College will be home again on Wednesday night for an NACC match against Alverno College. The Eagles and Inferno will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. with all the action available to view on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
