DECORAH, Iowa – The Edgewood College men's soccer team had trouble keeping pace with a high-powered Luther College Norse team Sunday afternoon at the Luther College Soccer Fields, as the Eagles were shut out by a score of 3-0.
The Eagles had their hands full from the get go defensively, as Luther fired 29 shots total in the game, 12 of which were on goal. The Norse had an 18-1 advantage in shots heading into the break.
The Norse put in their first goal of the game in the 14th minute on an unassisted tally from Matheus Beato. He fired from the right side of the box and scooted it past Eagles starting goalkeeper Kyle Wood.
Luther added their second thanks to another unassisted goal, this time off the foot of Aldan O'Driscoll. It was his third goal of the season. Ahmed Osman rounded out the scoring in the game after a header in the 38th minute. Brunno Colon was there for the assist on the play.
Freshman midfielder Garrett Lee had two of three Edgewood College shots on the night, with one of them being on target. Jesse Greenwood recorded the other shot on goal on a blast in the 48th minute that was saved by Luther goalkeeper Blaise Schaeffer.
Wood finished with five saves for the Eagles while freshman Ethan Schneider wound up with four.
Edgewood College will return home on Thursday, Sept. 17th when they host UW-Platteville. Game time from Breese Stevens Field is set for 7 pm.
