OSHKOSH, Wis. - When a team can shoot it like UW-Oshkosh can, some nights will be hard for the opposition. Edgewood College was on the wrong end of one of those nights as the 23rd-ranked Titans made 14 three-point baskets in a 99-53 victory over the Eagles. Arik Anderson came off the bench to score a career-high 13 points to lead the Eagles.
UW-Oshkosh (2-2) made seven of their first 12 three-point shots in jumping out to a 43-21 lead over the first 18 minutes of the game. Sy Staver and Anderson scored the final two baskets of the first half to bring the Eagles back to 43-25. Anderson and Tyler Westrick each had five points in the first half to lead the Eagles.
The hot shooting Titans picked up where they left off in the second half, scoring the first 11 points and never looking back. Anderson went 5-for-6 from the field, including 2-for-2 from the three-point line for 13 points. Staver added 10 points and a team-high four assists. Adam Freitag also had 10 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Emilio Lopez and Jim Bridges each had five rebounds. Edgewood College (0-2) only had 10 turnovers, but shot 37.3 percent from the field.
UW-Oshkosh received a game-high 16 points from Brett Wittchow, and 14 points by Sean Dwyer. The Titans were 14-for-28 from the three-point line and shot 51.4 percent from the field.
Edgewood College, still in search of their first win, will have an opportunity to get it in their conference opener at Lakeland College on Saturday. The Eagles and the Muskies begin at 2:00 p.m.
