FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Edgewood College women's soccer team is back above .500 after their fourth-straight win Wednesday night. The Eagles used two first-half goals and a stellar performance from Sabelle Seabrook in net to notch their third shutout win of the season.
Edgewood College (6-5, 3-2 NACC) played solid defensively for their third shutout over the last four games and Alisha Nolden stayed hot to lift the Eagles past the Sabres. Nolden, a freshman from Waunakee, Wis., scored her fourth goal over the last three games to give the Eagles the early 1-0 lead.
She battled for the ball in a crowded box before finding some solid footing to push it past Marian goalkeeper Alysha Kallas in the 23rd minute. Nolden's strike was the third shot of the game for the Eagles, as Jennifer Dailey attempted the first two within the first 12 minutes.
The Eagles wouldn't record another shot until the 41st minute, but Taylor Pampuch tallied her fourth goal of the season on the attempt after another scramble in front of the net to give the Eagles a two-goal cushion moments before the half. The Sabres would register only one shot in the half, a blast in the 32nd minute that was blocked by an Edgewood College defender.
The Sabres would step up the intensity on the offensive side in the second half but the Eagles defense and Seabrook's play in the net proved to be too much. Marian rattled off 11 shots, four of which were on net.
Seabrook finished with her second career shutout and stopped four Marian shots. Taylor Pampuch and Dailey were the lone Eagles with multiple shots in the game.
The Eagles will look to push their win streak to five on Saturday, Oct. 10 at home against Concordia Wisconsin. The match will take place at Breese Stevens Field and will begin at 1:30 pm.
