Nolden’s two goals push Eagles past Cougars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Freshman forward Alisha Nolden stole the show Saturday afternoon in a NACC showdown at Concordia Stadium, as the Waunakee, Wis., native scored twice to help Edgewood College sneak past the Concordia University Chicago Cougars in a 2-1 win.

Junior forward Emily Skaer was equally instrumental, as the native of Neenah, Wis., was there for the helper on both of the Eagles' goals. The first came in just the 13th minute after Jennifer Dailey crossed it in from the right corner. Skaer corralled the ball right next to the keeper and shot it off CUC's Ally Krajnak, but the ball dribbled out about 10 yards before Nolden came in and shot it into an empty net.

The goal was Nolden's second in as many games, as she also lit the lamp in a 10-0 win over Alverno College on Sept. 30.

The Cougars answered a little over 10 minutes later on a goal from Elizabeth Sanders in the 26th minute but the two teams would enter the locker room tied 1-1.

Nolden's second goal was the Eagles' first shot of the second half and was a header that was served up by Skaer on a cross. It was Nolden's third goal of the season. The Cougars registered six more shots the rest of the game—two of which came in the final five minutes--but Eagles goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook held her own and closed out the victory.

Seabrook finished with three saves in 90 minutes of action while Krajnak had a pair of stops. Edgewood College totaled nine shots in the game, four of which were on target. Taylor Pampuch and Skaer registered the other two shots on goal in the game for the Eagles.

Edgewood College will get back into action on Wednesday, Oct. 7 with a matchup against Marian. The match will take place at Smith Fields in Fond du Lac, Wis., and is set to begin at 7 pm.
