Eagles fall to Stars on Senior Day

MADISON, Wis. – The possibility of a higher postseason seed and a chance to send their seniors out with a victory set the stage for the Edgewood College women's soccer team's Senior Day at Breese Stevens Field on Saturday. However, two first half goals for Dominican University proved too much to overcome, as the Eagles fell 3-0 to the Stars.

Edgewood College (8-8, 5-5 NACC) actually had the first good chance of the match. Taylor Pampuch broke free on the left wing, but her shot was saved by Dominican goalkeeper Sara Stepanovich. Dominican University (11-5, 8-1 NACC) grabbed the lead in the 12th minute. Kelly Iovino's shot slipped past Sabelle Seabrook for her 17th goal of the season. Just five minutes later Taylor Adler cross was scored by Lauren Zuro and the Stars had a 2-0 cushion.

Emily Skaer put a shot on goal in the 49th minute, but that would be the last scoring chance for Edgewood College. Dominican added an insurance goal by Alexis Mondragon in the 80th minute.

Even with the loss, Edgewood College has still qualified for the NACC Tournament as the sixth seed. The Eagles will play on the road at the yet-to-be determined #3 seed on Sunday, November 1.

At Saturday's match, the Eagles recognized seniors Megan Bower, Jennifer Dailey, Brooke Menzia and Erin Peterson. Edgewood College will wrap up the regular season with a non-conference match against UW-Platteville on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Breese Stevens Field.
