MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team proved again they can play with the league's best teams. Unfortunately, playing competitively hasn't translated to wins in the Eagles last two outings. Saturday on Parents' Day, Concordia University Wisconsin managed a 64th minute goal to pull off a 1-0 victory over Edgewood College. It was the Eagles' second 1-0 loss this week.
Edgewood College (5-8, 2-5 NACC) was outshot by the Falcons 12-3 in the first half, but the Eagles did match Concordia University Wisconsin with two shots on goal. Garrett Lee put a shot on the net in the 15th minute and Roberts Lema forced Falcon goalkeeper Alec Brew to make a save on his attempt in the 34th minute. On the other end of the field, Eagle goalkeeper Kyle Wood also made two saves before halftime.
Concordia University Wisconsin (10-2-1, 4-1 NACC) turned up the pressure in the second half and finally broke through in the 64th minute. After a Kyle Wood save led to a scramble in front of the net, the Eagles appeared to have cleared the ball. However, Dagoberto Diaz found space outside the penalty and fired a blast over the head of Wood for a 1-0 Falcon lead. Edgewood College registered another four shots on goal after falling behind, including one on net by Zander Rothering, but the Eagles never managed an equalizer.
Lee led the Eagles with three shots, including one on goal. Wood made eight saves in the game to keep Edgewoood College in the game.
