Eagles explode for six goals against Lakeland

MADISON, Wis. - Goals were not hard to come by Tuesday night at Reddan Soccer Park for the Edgewood College Eagles, as the team exploded for six goals and only allowed one shot on goal against Lakeland College. Sophomore Taylor Pampuch continued her hot streak and netted two goals while Jenna Mineau also added a pair.

The Eagles, who now own a 8-2-1 overall record and a perfect 4-0 mark in conference play, wasted no time in getting on the board. Sophomore Stevie Grable scored her first goal of the season just 2 minutes, 50 seconds into the game on an assist from Jennifer Dailey. Grable secured the pass from about 15 yards out at the top of the box and drilled it past Muskies goaltender Jessica Carter. The goal was the second of her career.

Dailey then scored midway through the first period after a Taylor Pampuch lead pass allowed her to break free from the back line of defense. She buried the goal into the lower right corner for her eighth goal of the season. Despite registering 13 shots and holding possession for the vast majority of the first half, the Eagles only led 2-0 at the break.

The meager two-goal lead quickly multiplied, as the Eagles scored their final four goals in less than a nine-minute span. Taylor Pampuch got things rolling in the second half by scoring on an unassisted play from the right side of the box in the 49th minute and Mineau found the back of the net less than two minutes later on an assist from Carley Hanko.

The duo of Taylor Pampuch and Mineau would strike again less than six minutes later, as Pampuch notched her seventh goal of the season in the 57th minute from Mineau and Mineau would score her second of the game just 50 seconds later on a rebound.

The Muskies' lone threat came in the 77th minute when Ali Thompson had Eagles goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook 1-on-1 and tried sliding it past her low and to her left, but Seabrook just got a hand on it and the ball just missed the post.

Tori Fortney played the first half and improved to 6-2-1 on the season. Maddie Schroeder relieved Fortney at half and would see over 24 minutes of playing time before Seabrook came in to close things out.

Edgewood College will play next on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Aurora University. The game will be played at Vago Field and is set for a 1 pm start.
