Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Pampuch's two goals power Eagles past BenU

MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College women's soccer team extended its winning streak to five games Saturday afternoon at Warner Park, as the Eagles scored three of its four goals in just a six minute span. Edgewood College ultimately came out on top 4-1 and improved to 7-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Jennifer Dailey notched her team-high seventh goal of the season in the 19th minute after she beat a diving goaltender along the right side of the box. Dailey, a senior forward from Waunakee, Wis., totaled 12 goals last year, which also led the team and ranked seventh in the NACC.

The Eagles then exploded for three goals just after the halfway mark thanks to sophomore Taylor Pampuch and senior Jenna Mineau. Pampuch, who has scored 12 points in the last four games, connected on a cross from Dailey on the right side to put the Eagles up 2-0. She then had a ball settle in front of her from 15 yards out and blasted it past Benedictine goalkeeper Maddie Frye, who finished with three saves on the night.

Edgewood College scored its final goal on a penalty kick. Mineau, who entered 6-for-6 in her career on penalty kicks, pushed her shot to the far right side of the goal to extend her school record to seven. It was her third goal of the season and the Green Bay, Wis., native now has nine points on the year.

Edgewood College's offensive pressure allowed them to control the tempo most of the game, holding Benedictine to just seven shots, three of which were on goal. Their lone goal came on a penalty kick with just 48 seconds remaining in the game. Maddie Schroeder, who relieved starter Tori Fortney in net in the 70th minute, just missed on her diving attempt to the lower right side of the net. Danielle Melotte put the goal in for Benedictine, notching her third goal of the year.

Fortney and Schroder finished with one save apiece, while Frye faced 13 shots, seven of which were on goal.

Edgewood College will look to extend its winning streak to six Tuesday night at home against Lakeland College. The match is scheduled for a 7 pm start at Reddan Soccer Park.
