Eagles improve to 6-2-1 after win at Marian

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Edgewood College women's soccer team scored three second-half goals to pull away from Marian University Wednesday night and to improve to 2-0 in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference. The Eagles eventually came out on top by a score of 4-1.

The Eagles lit up the scoreboard in the early goings, as Taylor Pampuch emerged from a mad scramble in front of the net after a Liz Darkow corner and found the back of the net. It was her second goal of the season and she now has seven points on the year. The goal came in the ninth minute.

Laura Maly answered for the Sabres and put one past Edgewood College goalkeeper Tori Fortney in the 30th minute. The score would remain the same into halftime and the Eagles held a 9-8 advantage in shots at that point.

Jennifer Dailey and Liz Darkow then took over for the Eagles offense. The duo scored two goals within three minutes to put the Eagles up for good. Dailey, a senior from Waunakee, Wis., scored her first goal of the game in the 55th minute on an unassisted play. Dailey then assisted Darkow, a sophomore from Neenah, Wis., shortly thereafter to put the Eagles up 3-1.

Dailey would add another in the 83rd minute, pushing her total to six on the season. Fortney faced plenty of shots on the night, as an active Sabres offense fired 18 shots, 15 of which were on goal. Her 14 saves is just one short of her career high, which came last year vs. St. Norbert College. The senior from Geneva, Ill, entered tonight's game with 24 saves on the season. The Eagles finished with 15 shots on the night.

Edgewood College will return home Saturday for a NACC matchup with Benedictine University. The match will take place at Warner Park and is set to begin at 4:30 pm.
