MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College men's soccer team and Lawrence University battled to a scoreless tie Wednesday night at Whiting Field West in Appleton, Wis. The game was called off after the first overtime period due to poor lighting conditions.
Lawrence led in the shots column 19-17 after regulation but managed five shots in the only overtime period, while the Eagles failed to get one off. The Vikings ultimately won the shots on goal battle 14-10.
Matt Dammen continued his excellent goaltending by stopping 14 Vikings shots. That mark now stands as his career-high, as the Sun Prairie, Wis., native's previous high mark came during his sophomore season in 2012 when he had 11 saves against Concordia University Wisconsin. It was also the senior's fourth shutout of his career.
The Eagles kept Lawrence University goalie Joe Krivit busy, as well. They fired 17 shots—their second-highest total of the season—and 10 were on target. Evan Rogaczewski and Kelmend Isaj were the most active on offense for the Eagles, as they registered four and three shots, respectively. Joe Cullen led the Vikings in shots with five.
Wednesday night's match marked the final tune-up before the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference schedule begins. The Eagles open the slate with Concordia University Chicago away from home Saturday. The game, which will take place at Cougar Field in River Forest, Ill., is set to begin at 1:30 pm.
