ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Edgewood College senior goalkeeper Tori Fortney may already be in mid-season form, as the 2013 first team all-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference performer shut out Webster University to open the 2014 campaign. Fortney stopped four Gorlok shots Saturday evening, including one in the first overtime period.
Jessica Davis and Rachael Ainsworth combined to shut out the Eagles. Neither goalie registered a save, while Davis spent 65 minutes in the net and Ainsworth tended for 45 minutes.
The Eagles attempted three shots on the night, one each from Hannah Menzia, Taylor Pampuch and Mariah Walton. Michelle Scally was the lone Webster University player to attempt more than one shot.
The Eagles will return to action Friday, Sept. 5 at UW-Whitewater. The match, which will take place at Fiskum Field in Whitewater, Wis., is set for a 7:30 pm start time.
