Pampuch, Darkow each score twice vs. Alverno

MADISON, Wis. - Edgewood College recorded its highest single-game goal total this season Saturday afternoon at Alverno College to snag their seventh conference victory of the season. The Eagles wound up with seven goals in a shutout win over the Inferno and held the opposition to just three shots on goal.

Taylor Pampuch joined Jennifer Dailey as the only Eagles player this season to reach double digits in the goals category, as the sophomore transfer scored first in the 11th minute and recorded her 10th of the season shortly after halftime in the 48th minute. Dailey assisted on her first while Liz Darkow notched the helper on the second.

Darkow continued her hot streak and also added a pair of goals to give her four goals over the past three games. She gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead in the 33rd minute after weaving through defenders in the box and put up her second in the 57th minute unassisted. Darkow also assisted on an Emily Dorsett goal in the 41st minute that put the Eagles up 3-0 to give her four points on the day.

A pair of Eagles scored their first goals of the season in the effort in Carley Hanko and Emily Skaer. Hanko, a sophomore from Waunakee, Wis., gave the Eagles a 5-0 lead in the 57th minute on an assist from Dailey while Dorsett assisted Skaer in the 63rd minute to round out the scoring on the day. Skaer, a sophomore from Neenah, Wis., had five goals and an assist last year in her rookie season and now has three points in the 2014 season.

Tori Fortney stopped two shots and played the first half in the win. Maddie Schroeder and Sabelle Seabrook split duties in the second half, with only Seabrook recording a save. Inferno goaltender Kaitlyn Gallinatti stopped six shots on the day.

The Eagles will have a three-day break before returning home on Wednesday against Concordia University Wisconsin. The game will be at Reddan Soccer Park in Verona, Wis., and will begin at 7 pm.
