Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Eagles roll over Warriors for 6th NACC win

MADISON, Wis. - Edgewood College almost literally couldn't start their match against Wisconsin Lutheran College Thursday afternoon any faster than they did, as Jennifer Dailey scored just 55 seconds into the match at Reddan Soccer Park. The Eagles kept the pressure on the Warriors throughout the game and ultimately won 5-0 to improve to 11-3-1 overall and 6-1 in the NACC. The win guarantees the Eagles a spot in the 2014 NACC Championship Women's Soccer Tournament, which runs from Nov. 1-8.

Sophomore Taylor Pampuch assisted on Dailey's goal to start the game. It set the tone for the remainder of the game, as Edgewood College finished with 20 shots compared to the Warriors' four. The Eagles' 13 shots on goal tied a season-high in that category and marked the fourth time this season they reached double-digits in shots on target.

The Eagles would be relatively quiet on offense until the 21st minute, when Liz Darkow buried her fourth goal of the season unassisted when a strike from the left side of the box raced by Warriors goaltender Rachel Sebald. It was the second-straight game in which Darkow scored a goal after going on a seven-game scoreless streak prior to last game.

Haley Gaines served up another flawless corner kick less than eight minutes later to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead. She found Jenna Mineau in the middle of the box and Mineau one-touched it for her eighth goal of the season. The Eagles would take the 3-0 lead with them to halftime.

The Eagles made it 4-0 shortly after the break after Stevie Grable and Ashley Pandow found Dailey for her second goal of the game and 10th of the season. She moved in from the left side of the box and blasted a shot straight on that blew by Sebald. Dailey is the first Eagle this season to reach the 10-goal mark. Jenna Mineau scored for the second time in the game just over 15 minutes after Dailey's strike to round out the Eagles' scoring on the day. She scored her ninth goal of the season unassisted.

Tori Fortney improved to 9-3-1 after making one save in the first half. She was relieved by Maddie Schroeder at half. Schroeder also recorded a save and played 24 minutes before Sabelle Seabrook made her third appearance of the year. Seabrook recorded one save in 20:23 of playing time, while Sebald stopped eight Edgewood College shots in her 90 minutes of playing time.

The Eagles get one day off before travelling to Milwaukee, Wis., Saturday for a NACC contest with Alverno College. The match, which will take place at Alverno Athletic Fields, is set to begin at 12 pm.
