PLYMOUTH, Wis. – After an eight day break, the Edgewood College volleyball team was ready to give the fans another thriller. The Eagles defeated Lakeland College 3-1, after rallying back from a nine point deficit in the fourth set for the win.

Lakeland College (6-6, 1-1 NACC) roared out to a 12-3 lead in the fourth set of the match, but Edgewood College's hopes were not deterred. Slowly, but surely, the Eagles battled back to tie the set 22-22. After surrendering two more points, Edgewood College was just a point away from heading to a fifth frame. Not wanting to extend the match, the Eagles fought back to another tie before eventually taking their first lead of the set 29-28. A kill by the Muskies' Amanda Dillman forced yet another tie, but a point from Jordan Winkler and a Lakeland error handed Edgewood College the set 31-29 and the match 3-1.

The 3-1 victory does not explain how close the contest truly was. In the first set, Lakeland College jumped ahead early, riding the momentum of the roaring crowd. The Eagles (11-2, 2-0 NACC) came back, however, and took the first frame 25-19 after piling up 16 kills. Seven attack errors by Edgewood College led to a second set loss and just like that, the match was tied 1-1.

The Eagles came back with a vengeance after the loss in the second frame and dominated the third set 25-12. Edgewood College hit .286 with 12 kills and just two errors while never surrendering the lead. Lakeland College was not going to hand over the match and put up a fight in the fourth frame which led to the dramatic finale.

Winkler led Edgewood College with a season-high 14 kills. Jessica Martin and Elizabeth Evans also tallied double-digit numbers with 12 and 11 kills each, respectively. Rachel Tesch led the defense with a career-high 22 digs. Winkler added 17 for her seventh double-double of the season. Swansby racked up a season-high 41 assists to go along with 15 digs.

The Eagles will be tested this Friday as No. 19 UW-Whitewater comes to the Todd Wehr Edgedome. Edgewood College will provide live video and live stats for the 6:00 p.m. match with links available on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
