Pioneers shut out Eagles on the road

NEW BERLIN, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's tennis team rearranged their Sunday schedule due to the weather, but Carroll University still rained on their parade. The Pioneers rolled to a 9-0 victory over Edgewood College, winning all but one match in straight sets.

Patrick Lagman at No. 1 singles pushed his match against the Pioneers' Ryan Fertitta into a 10-point match tiebreaker. Lagman won the first set, but ultimately fell to Fertitta 4-6, 6-2, 10-7. Edgewood College's Eric Gavinski played tough at No. 2 singles, losing to Isaac Jordan 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles play for Edgewood College (4-19), Ben Pratscher and Michael Janusek put up the closest match in doubles. Pratscher and Janusek fell to Carroll's Jordan and Eric Schneider 8-3.

The Eagles will return to Northern Athletics Conference action next Saturday with a pair of home dual matches at Rennebohm Park in Madison. Edgewood College will welcome Rockford College at 10:00 a.m. before meeting Aurora University at 2:00 p.m.
