Eagles put out Inferno

Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. – It has been nearly a month since the Edgewood College volleyball team has faced a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opponent. On Friday, the Eagles picked up right where they left off, downing Alverno College 3-0 in Milwaukee.

Edgewood College (16-6, 3-0 NACC) came out hot in the first set, jumping out to a 17-6 lead. Sarah Schuchhardt and Jessica Martin combined for five kills in the run. Alverno climbed back within 11 points, but Elizabeth Evans gave the Eagles a 24-13 lead and an Inferno error handed Edgewood College the set.

The second set was a tighter battle early, but the Eagles stretched it out later on. Kaitlyn Rabel, Carley Reuter, and Martin connected on three straight kills for Edgewood College and Macalah Finstad served four straight balls to push the lead to 15-8. Nine Inferno errors in the set helped Edgewood College extend their lead to a set point and Reuter sent home a kill to put the Eagles up 2-0 in the match.

With the score 9-5 in favor of Edgewood College in the third, Elizabeth Evans served the Eagles to an 8-0 run. Alverno College responded with three points in a row, but Edgewood College finished the set on an 8-4 run behind kills from Jordan Winkler, Rabel, and Jenna Dammen to earn the sweep.

Edgewood College hit .245 in the match with 34 kills. Rabel led the Eagles with six while Dammen and Martin had five kills apiece. Lindsey Swansby had 15 assists and three service aces on the night.

On Saturday, Edgewood College will host Dominican University in a battle of two of the conference's undefeated teams. The match will begin at 12:00 p.m. with live stats available on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
