Box Score MADISON, Wis. – The homestretch continued for the Edgewood College volleyball team on Saturday and the Eagles continued to roll. Edgewood College steamrolled Concordia University Chicago 3-0 after holding the Cougars to a hitting percentage of just .056.
Despite having just four kills the entire set, Concordia Chicago battled with the Eagles early in the match and pulled ahead 10-8. Edgewood College then started the click and pounded home six straight kills including three from Katie Wedvick, for a 14-10 lead. The Cougars earned a point on a kill from Danielle Sisco, but the Eagles finished the set on a 10-1 run to jump ahead in the match 1-0.
In set two, Lindsey Swansby served Edgewood College (19-6, 6-0 NACC) to a 9-2 lead and the Eagles never let up. With 14 kills and an attack percentage of .379, Edgewood College dominated the set and only allowed Concordia Chicago to reach 10 points, the lowest set point total for an opponent this season.
Concordia Chicago (3-14, 1-5 NACC) looked like a different team in the third set and rallied back from a six-point deficit to trail by only two at 14-12. However, there was no way the Eagles would allow the match to be extended and shut the door on the comeback, earning six of the next nine points. From there, Edgewood College finished the match with kills by Jessica Martin and Paje Mader to earn the sweep.
The Eagles hit a season-high .324 for the match led by Jordan Winkler who hit .429 with eight kills. Martin led all players with 13 kills while Lindsey Swansby handed out 27 assists. Rachel Thomsen and Rachel Tesch each tallied a dozen digs in the back row.
